Helen Louise Bauermeister, 77 years, of Arlington, NE, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont, NE, where she lived for the past year.

Helen was born November 12, 1934, at Omaha, NE, to George and Christine (Witthinrich) Lund. Helen graduated from Concordia High School in Seward, NE, after attending school in Benson. She married Roy Edward Bauermeister on May 2, 1953 in Benson, NE. They were founding members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Helen and Roy farmed near Omaha and moved to Arlington, NE, in 1962, where they continued their dairy operation. They were former members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Arlington and later joined First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Helen was a dairy farmer, a gift shop owner (Grandma’s Gift Haus in Arlington) and a full-time mother. She delighted in entertaining, creative pursuits such as sewing, home décor and ceramics, and loved music and teaching children. She was a member of the Town & Country Extension Club in Arlington. In their retirement years, she and Roy traveled over much of the United States.

She is survived by her husband, Roy of Arlington; three daughters, Brenda & husband, Ned Groelz of Syracuse, Utah, Nancy & husband, Gary Penna of Shawnee, Kansas and Eileen & husband, Jan Tjeerdsma of Cherokee, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Christopher Penna, Tara & husband, Nathan Eberline, Benjamin & wife, Andrea Groelz, Jonathan Groelz, Annie & husband, Matt Simons, Katherine Tjeerdsma and Mary Elizabeth Tjeerdsma; two great grandchildren, Lydia Eberline and Carter Groelz; sister, Betty Nelson of Bennington, NE; aunt, Helene Langmaack of Rumohr, Germany; nieces and nephews; several cousins in Nebraska and Germany; her husband’s sister and brothers and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Sandra.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 23rd at First Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Charlie Axness will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 8 PM all at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Visitation will continue on Monday at church 1hr prior to service. Memorials may be given to the First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Burial will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at Omaha, NE, at 1:30 PM on Monday.
