Eugene J. Emanuel

Eugene J. Emanuel, 92 years of North Bend, NE died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE. He was born April 27, 1920 in the Pleasant Valley area of rural North Bend, NE to Joseph and Helena (Becker) Emanuel. He married Elsie Vacha on January 6, 1944 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. The couple farmed and had a dairy herd, 3 miles west of Webster, until retiring in 1987 and moving to North Bend. Elsie died January 25, 2011.

Eugene was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church at North Bend and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3736 of North Bend. He was a member of the American Dairy Association.

He is survived by 6 sons, Wayne & wife, Maria Emanuel of Beemer, NE, Joseph & wife, Bonita Emanuel of Hartington, NE, Eugene & wife, Kim Emanuel of Monticello, MN, Kevin & wife, Kate Emanuel of Osceola, IA, Chad & wife, Cheryl Emanuel of Waukee, IA and Roch & wife, Diane Emanuel of North Bend; 5 daughters, Elizabeth & husband, Tony Wiese and Sandra & husband, Leo Blaha all of Dodge, NE, Dorothy & husband, Leo Showers of Lincoln, Mary & husband, Dean Von Seggern of Scribner, and Denise & husband, Glen Temple of Ottumwa, IA; sister-in-law, Mildred Emanuel of North Bend; brother-in-law, Dwain Molle of West Point, NE; 30 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Francis, Joseph, Ralph, Herman & Vincent Emanuel; and sisters, Phyllis Baumert, Edith Emanuel, Mary Scheppers and Victoria Molle.

Funeral Mass, 10 AM, Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, NE. Father Don Cleary will officiate. Vigil Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 PM, on Friday at the church. Visitation Friday at church from 3 PM to 8 PM and Sat. 1 hr prior to service. Burial will be at St. Mary's Ridgeley Catholic Cemetery near Scribner, NE. Memorials may be given to St. Charles Catholic Church and St. Mary's Ridgeley Cemetery.
