Chester M. Bell

Chester M. Bell, 69, of Fremont, Nebraska, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in Fremont.

Chester was born January 29, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Chester and Dorothy (Hendrix) Bell. He attended high school in Iowa City and graduated in 1961. After high school, Chester moved to Fremont and graduated in 1965 from Midland Lutheran College with a bachelor degree in Business Administration. He owned and operated Bell Bookkeeping and Tax Service in downtown Fremont.

Chester married Mary Ellen Umland on January 2, 1988, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska.

He was a member, elder, and treasurer of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs. He was a member of the Elkhorn Valley Good Sams Camping Club, past president of Fremont Area Service Club, member of Pheasants Forever, and Partner Swappers Inc. Chester enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, and collector of all sorts of things.

Chester is survived by his wife, Mary Bell of Fremont; mother, Dorothy Bell of Fremont; daughters, Kristina & husband, Jeff Blatchford of Omaha,NE, Amy Lockhart of Spring Hill, FL, Becky & husband, Phillip Priel of Bennet, NE, Diana & husband, Dan Mecham of Eaton Rapids, MI, Catherine & husband, Brian Smith of Plano, TX, and Lisa & husband, Tim Roberson of Lincoln, NE, and 13 grandchildren.

Chester was preceded in death by his father, Chester Bell.

The funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs, with Pastor Brian Peterson officiating. The visitation will be Friday, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour prior to service time at the church.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Bluffs, or the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.
