Richard L. S. “Dick” Bales, 90 years, of Fremont, NE died at his home on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
Dick was born June 27, 1922 in Fremont, NE to Nick and Marge (Keeler) Bales. He worked for Miles and Almor as a salesman in Miles City, Montana for several years. Most of his life he lived in Fremont and was a foreman for Earl Conrad in Fremont for several years. He then was employed at Hormel in Fremont for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Dick married Delores “Dee” E. Drews on November 11, 1954.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont for 60 years. He belonged to the Commercial Workers Union 22 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #200 both of Fremont.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; sons, Dale & wife, Kathy Nattress of Fremont and Richard & wife, Debbie Bales of Lincoln; daughters, Sharyl & husband, Marvin Bales of Cedar Bluffs, NE, Jeannie & husband, Roy Kestler of Bloomington, IL and Dee & husband, Mike Marty of Fremont; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters, a sister and 2 brothers.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont. Father Jay Gabb will officiate. Visitation on Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. There will be no viewing at church on Monday. Interment will be at Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be given to St. James Episcopal Church.
