Jeanne L. (Brown) Zautke, 51 years, of Sioux City Iowa formerly of Fremont, NE passed away peacefully from this world on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa with her husband, children, brothers and nieces by her side, after complications from a 3 year courageous battle with cancer.
Jeanne was born December 21, 1960 in Fremont, NE to Harlan and Dalone (Young) Brown. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a 1979 graduate of Fremont High School. Jeanne Brown married Dwight R. Zautke on September 17, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Jeanne worked at the Fremont Tribune and then at Valmont Industries in Valley for many years. She moved to Norfolk, NE and in 2005 moved to Sioux City, Iowa.
Jeanne was not afraid to take on anything and she was always out to have a good time. She played fast pitch softball for the Fremont Lady Buds, was an avid bowler, loved her Chicago Cubbies, Green Bay Packers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She loved animals, especially her cat, Bella. Jeanne was big hearted and would do anything for anybody. She had a great sense of humor and went by “Rabbit” most of the time. She was very social and loved just hanging out with her husband, family and friends. She was “mom”, “grandma” and “aunt” to many!
She is survived by her husband, Dwight; son, Corey & wife, Angie Zautke of Sioux City, IA; daughter, Amy Farnan of Stanberry, MO; brother, Jeff & wife, Diana Brown and Jimmy & wife, Diane Brown all of Fremont, NE and Jerry Brown of Sioux City, IA; grandsons, Jacob 14, Kale 5, Ashton 5; granddaughters, Isabelle 11, Gabrielle 9, and Emily 8; nieces, Megan and Emily Brown of Fremont; mother-in-law, DeEtta Miller of Fremont, NE; father-in- law Roy and wife Darlene Zautke of Norfolk, NE; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of her life will be 10 AM, Thursday, July 5th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and at church on Thursday 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Norfolk, NE.
The family requests memorials for Jeanne to be directed to her husband, Dwight.
