Harland D. Thompson, age 65, of Fremont, NE, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at his home in Fremont.
Harland was born March 31, 1947 in Sterling, NE to Lawrence and Lottie (Hendee) Thompson. He grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1965. He attended Universal Technical Institute, worked for Coca-Cola for 25 years and then was employed at Connectivity Solutions, retiring in December 2010.
Harland married Sharon “Sherry” Vance December 28, 1968 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Harland enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working on cars, camping, boating, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include: wife, Sherry; son – Scott and wife Jakkie Thompson of Fremont, NE; daughters – Amy and husband Roger Donscheski of Fremont, NE and Lori Thompson of Lincoln, NE; mother – Lottie Thompson of Fremont, NE; brother – Larry and wife Sue Thompson of Fremont, NE; and 7 grandchildren – Rikki, Cody & Corri Thompson, Charlee Thompson, Josh Thompson, and Jakub & Justice Donscheski.: several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; 2 sisters, Paticia Haltman and Vicki Roberts; and a granddaughter, Tara Thompson.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father Ron Battiato, Father Dave Belt and Father Jim Keiter will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Tuesday with family receiving friends 5 PM to 7 PM and a Vigil/Rosary Service at 7:00 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church Wednesday.
