Larry L. Keene

U.S. Veteran

Larry L. Keene, 84 years, of Fremont, NE, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his home in Fremont.

He was born October 24, 1927 in Homer, NE to Floyd and Grace (Shadbolt) Keene. He lived in the Walthill, NE area and graduated from Walthill High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 2, 1945 to Jan. 21, 1952 during WWII and the Korean War. He lived in Sioux City, IA from 1952 until moving to Fremont in 1970. He worked as a plumbing salesman for J.A. Sexauer.

Larry married Dorothy Parker August 29, 1952 in Dakota City, NE. She died April 24, 2004.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Commanders Club.

Survivors include: sons – John and wife Stacy Keene of Fremont, NE, Larry and wife Sandra Keene of Fremont, NE and Terry and wife Julie Keene of Cincinnati, OH; daughters – Mitzi and husband Mike Smith of LaVista, NE and ZoAnn Keene of Fremont, NE; sister Lucile Masten of Crofton, NE; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Dorothy; and sister, Esther Keene.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 13, 2012 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Tom Shaw of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Thursday, with family receiving friends 6-8 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Fremont with military honors conducted by Nebraska Army National Guard Military Honors Team and Fremont Honor Guard.

Memorials may be directed to the Nebraska Humane Society of Omaha.
